Trip to Cowtown!
This weekend we took a trip to Ft. Worth, Texas, a.k.a. Cowtown! Fort Worth is the city I was born in and where Baby Z's Grandma Deborah grew up. The purpose of the visit was special as my grandfather was being honored with a baseball field being named after him. My Papa died in 2002 so there is now a monument (see picture) and a high school baseball ballpark in Ft. Worth named in his memory. Papa worked in the Fort Worth Independent School District for 37 years. He served as a teacher, coach, assistant principal and principal. In 1953 he coached a baseball team that won the State Championship -- the boys that played on that team worked hard to get the field named in his honor. My entire family attended the dedication of the ballpark and Baby Z was the youngest there. We stayed in a fancy hotel in the stockyards in Fort Worth. The stockyards are where cattle were bought and sold in Texas back in the early part of the 1900s. The picture of Baby Z is in the hotel bar/restaurant where the barstools are saddles! This area of Fort Worth celebrates all things western!
