Zeina's First Halloween; Saudi Style!

We celebrated Halloween here in Dhahran last night. And, it was more festive than we anticipated! My neighbor shared with me that our street was the most popular street to trick-or-treat on, but I seriously underestimated what she meant considering this is a very diverse community and many nationalities do not celebrate Halloween.
I bought 15 bags of candy thinking that we would have plenty, but I was wrong. Our street is THE street to trick-or-treat on in the camp. Cars came from everywhere. Our neighbors decorated their houses and adults all dressed up too. We must have had 400-500 kids. And, I am not even kidding. You could not drive on our street. It was like an impromptu Halloween festival. The company had security on the street to make sure everything went ok and even sent over additional candy.
It was a nice evening and was a great opportunity for us to meet our neighbors and people with small children on the camp. Almost every child had two parents with them and many, many of the adults joined in on the fun and wore costumes too!
Later in the evening, we hired a babysitter and joined two other couples for dinner off camp and had a nice adult evening. We even sipped Saudi champagne: apple juice, Perrier and mint leaves!

What fun. Your new neighborhood sounds like ours. I am so glad Zeina enjoyed her first Halloween as did her Mommy and Daddy. Glad you all are doing well. I am off to the Arboretum tomorrow with all of Ethan's Kindergarten class.
