Censorship

We get most of the magazines from the United States here in Saudi, BUT they are all censored. The above photo is from the March 23 edition of People Magazine. As you can see, white tape is placed over any revealing part of a woman including, cleavage, legs and in some cases arms. The tape is VERY sticky and if you try to remove it, the magazine page winds up with a hole in it.

Think about it. All of the magazines I purchase here look like this. That means that someone's JOB is to go through and place the tape in all of the "offensive" places. What an interesting profession.

If a photo on a page is too large or revealing for tape to cover, the page is simply ripped out of the magazine. For example, I LOVE to read about Britney Spears but since most of her clothes are too skimpy there are always pages missing in stories about her and I never get to read the full article.

The same treatment is not given to photos of males. You see them shirtless and in shorts in all of the magazines, without any tape covering them.
