Sand, Sand...Blow Away!
We've had blowing sand for 10 days or so. Sand storms are fairly common here, but usually only last a day or two. This picture of a street here on camp is much clearer than what is reality. It is like walking around in a haze of sand. It brings out allergies and is just depressing, in general. The only good thing about the blowing sand is that it has kept the temperature outside below 108 or so. I want the sand to go away! Zeina's allergies started acting up the very day the sand arrived and now we have a full on ear infection. Folks, I can't describe how terrible the blowing sand is. When I take shower, after playing tennis in it, you can see all of the sand in the tub coming out of my hair and body. Our front door has to be wiped daily and the car is just disgusting. You breathe in sand when you walk outside -- it is like being in a smoke-filled bar! You see many, many people wearing masks on their faces, including the kids going and coming from school. ARRRRGGHHH!
The only thing that has kept me going for the past week and a half is that we leave for the South of France July 1. We are looking forward to 10 days of fun with Nijad, Zeina, Sara, Sonya and Mia!! An added plus is that George's dad will be with us for part of the vacation as well!!!!!
