More Birthday Fun!
Children's birthday parties are important everywhere, but when you are overseas and away from family it is an honor to be included on the invitee list. We are all here from somewhere else and your friends become like family. We attend AT LEAST one birthday party every weekend. And, truth be told, we really enjoy it! We get to see how people from different cultures celebrate and get to take part in the festivities. Moms and Dads are always included and there is truly something for everyone. Plus, George and I really enjoy watching Zeina have a good time. This past weekend we attended a birthday party for a child of one of George's work friends, who happens to be Egyptian. The party was at another compound in a large entertainment room. There must have been 100 people in attendance. Easily.
A clown entertained the children with games, then a DJ played kids dance music while we ate. There was more food at the buffet than some weddings I've attended!!! We were sitting at a table with a group of friends enjoying the food and conversation when we realized that we hadn't seen Zeina in a few minutes. When we looked up, she was on stage dancing with some of the older children!!!!! Our girl has a big independence streak!
After the kids danced some more there was a balloon drop, which Zeina thought was just GREAT! We sang happy birthday in English and Arabic, ate cake and then headed home with an exhausted toddler. She just gets more fun every day! In this picture, Zeina is taking a break from dancing and drinking some much-needed water.

sometimes, I think she looks exactly like George, but in that picture she looks like you. Luckily she has two gorgeous parents!
