A lot to be thankful for
Last night we attended a Veterans Day/Thanksgiving dinner and dance hosted by the American Legion in the Marine Bunker at the US Consulate here in Dhahran. First, let me just say that we had a GREAT time! After the cocktail reception (real alcohol since we were at the US Consulate, thank you very much!), the American Legion hosted a Veterans Day ceremony. It was quite moving and there was not a dry eye in the crowd when they talked about the symbolism of the POW/MIA table that was placed in the front of the room. The Commander also included in his remarks that we should thank veterans while they are alive and not wait for them to pass on. So, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank my Uncle Tommy and Cousin Tyler for their service and bravery that helps preserve our freedom as Americans.
After the ceremony, there was a Thanksgiving dinner and then dancing while a DJ played music.
At the conclusion of the evening, we decided to join the American Legion as we met so many people that we enjoyed spending time with.
We have a lot to be thankful for.
